Western Power is responsible for the distribution and transmission of electricity in the south west of Western Australia. GreenLife Group have been commissioned to provide landscape maintenance and cleaning at Western Power’s 119 zone substations and five terminals throughout the mid and lower western region of Western Australia. These locations equate to an area in excess of 300,000 km².

The service provided to Western Power includes monthly visits to the substations and fortnightly visits to the terminals.  GLG provide landscape maintenance including removal of weeds and litter, mowing of lawns and verges, maintaining fire breaks around boundary fences, tree pruning and reticulation maintenance. The cleaning service entails general cleaning of all buildings including removal of spider webs, pest control and litter removal.

Due to the vast area covered by the Western Power substations, it was important that GLG enlist the services of a capable and reliable network of subcontractors to maintain regional sites. GLG staff in Perth maintain the sites within the metropolitan area.

One of Western Power’s primary concerns is safety. GLG has a strong safety culture and a work history that demonstrates a company that take their safety responsibilities and obligations very seriously.

GLG work closely with Western Power to comply with their high safety requirements, by completing site specific training courses, attending regular Occupational Health and Safety forums and partaking in “toolbox meetings” to facilitate continuous improvement. Site specific Job Risk Assessments are completed during each visit.

Since the inception of the Western Power project, additional sites have been constructed and added to the service regime. GLG now provide landscape maintenance and cleaning to 147 substations and nine terminals.

GLG are often asked to provide additional, unscheduled visits for a variety of reasons, at short notice and usually when a construction crew is working on site.

GLG have responded to these requests in a timely and efficient manner, with the emphasis on exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction.

GLG have been servicing Western Power sites for over five years and during this time have had zero Lost Time Injury. High quality service levels and extensions to the Western Power contract have been achieved by the selection, training and retention of key personnel.

GLG staff and subcontractors working on the Western Power contract have a high degree of ownership of the sites they maintain.  They have a flexible attitude when responding to non-programmed works and service their planned operations with minimal supervision.
